Bavarian cream

Bavarian cream [buhvair-ee-uhn kreem] noun

A gelatin-based refrigerated dessert composed of rich custard, whipped cream and flavoring – often a fruit purée, vanilla, chocolate or even flavored liqueurs. Bavarian cream is served molded or in glass goblets to show the velvety texture, often with additional whipped cream on top.

There are shortcuts using flavored Jell-O gelatin and whipped cream, which approximate but do not duplicate a true Bavarian Cream.
